Barry was a 2 year letter winner in both basketball and baseball at North Penn.  In basketball, his senior year, Barry was named captain and he led North Penn in scoring and rebounding.  He was 2nd leading scorer in the Bux Mont and was named 1st Team All Bux Mont. At the end of the year awards Barry received the T. D. Keyser Award for leading rebounder and the Lions Club Award for NPHS MVP in Basketball.

In baseball Barry received a varsity lettered his junior season and was a member of the 1961 Bux Mont League Baseball Team Championship. In 1962 Barry was named co-captain of the baseball team and was North Penn’s leading hitter (.457).  The 1962 Team won the Bux Mont League Baseball Team Championship and Barry earned All Bux Mont status.

At the Senior Awards night Barry received the Theta Chapter of Alpha Gamma Sigma Fraternity awarded to “the senior athlete who brought the most recognition to North Penn High School in three years of competition.”

Barry graduated from Ursinus College with a degree in Health and Physical Education.  While at Ursinus he accomplished the following: 4 year letter winner in both basketball and baseball, All Mac 1964, 1965 and 1966; MVP basketball 1964, 1965 and 1966.  His basketball accomplishments also include 1000 pt. scorer (1358) Philadelphia Sports Writers All Area D111 Team 1966

Accomplishments in Baseball at Urinus include All Mac conference 1965 and 1966; All Mac and MVP 1966; Ursinus leading hitter 1966.  Barry was inducted in the Ursinus Hall of Fame in 1989.

After college Barry played one season for the Scranton Miners in the Eastern League of professional basketball team. In 1978 Barry pitched batting practice for the Philadelphia Phillies.  Barry had a very successful career as a Health and Physical Education teacher and coach at Upper Dublin high school.
