1975 NPHS BOYS SWIMMING TEAM UNDEFEATED STATE CHAMPIONS

The 1975 Boys Swim Team picked up right where the 1974 team left off and went one step further.  The National Interscholastic Swim Coaches Association recognized the 1975 North Penn High School Boys Swim Team as the Pennsylvania State Swim Team Champions.  The 1975 Boys Swim Team captured their 3rd consecutive Bux-Mont league championship; their 2nd consecutive District One Championship. They also won the Eastern Relay Carnival and placed 3rd in the very prestigious Eastern Interscholastic Swim Championship, held at Lawrenceville Prep School in New Jersey.

In dual meet competition the 1975 team was undefeated, 13-0.  This extended North Penn’s dual meet win streak to 26 consecutive victories.

The Championship season began with the Bux-Mont League Championship meet; which was dominated by the North Penn swimmers and divers.  North Penn placed first in 9 of the 11 events and was 2nd in the other two events.  Sixteen swimmers and divers qualified for the District One Swim Championship held at West Chester University.  The Knights again dominated the competition, swimming past Radnor, Upper Moreland and Council Rock to win their second consecutive District One Swim Championship.  The PIAA State Championship was held at Penn State University; North Penn qualified thirteen swimmers and divers.  The Knights placed in nine of the eleven events and out scored Manheim Township and Emmaus to win the unofficial PIAA Swimming Team Championship.  Tony Bartle was the “Outstanding Swimmer” of the PIAA Championship meet, winning the 200 free style and setting a new state record in the 500 free style, swimming 4:37.65.  Tony also anchored the 400 free style relay that included Bruce Seaman, Bill Moser, Bill Bartle and Bill Muller to a new State PIAA record of 3:14.75.

The 1975 Boys swim team had five All State swimmers: Tony Bartle, Bruce Seaman, Bill Moser, Bill Bartle, Bill Muller and one All State Diver; Joel Gaskin.  Five of these swimmers earned All American status, Tony Bartle, Bruce Seaman, Bill Moser, Bill Bartle and Bill Muller.  Little did this team realize that they were laying down the foundation upon which the North Penn Swimming tradition which would continue for the next 30 years.
